New Feature Highlights from 28.1:
Manage Employee Expenses using Expense Reports - Business Central | Microsoft Learn
The new Expense Management module introduces Expense Reports as a built-in Business Central capability. Employees can create expense categories, expense reports, add multiple expense lines into expense reports, itemize costs, calculate per diem, and record mileage. Managers can review, update, and approve or reject reports, while accountants can post reimbursements and configure posting accounts for different expense types.
Manage Expenses in Business Central using Expense Agent | Microsoft Learn
This release introduces a new web app for the Expense Agent, enabling users to submit expenses either through the web app or directly from Outlook. The agent automatically extracts information from scanned receipts or receipts forwarded via email, creates Expenses, and populates key fields such as category, amount, currency, merchant, payment method, date, receipt number, and a context‑based description. When applicable, the agent itemizes expenses and even identifies per diem claims based on itinerary documents. Users can associate expenses with projects or mark them as billable.
Audit user and group permissions across apps | Microsoft Learn
This centralized view helps administrators analyze permission dependencies, conduct security audits, and troubleshoot access issues without navigating multiple pages or extensions.
Control the lifecycle of Report Layouts | Microsoft Learn
Report layout administrators can set the status of report layouts to control their lifecycle stages: Draft, Pending Approval, Approved, Retired
