What's New in Business Central Update 28.2
Business Central 2026 Release Wave 1 (28.2) update is now available and has been widely deployed for many Business Central environments. This release is a minor release that continues to deliver new features and functionality announced for 2026 Release Wave 1. In the video below, we take a look at some of the key new features available with this release. But before we do, here are a couple key links you can use to do your own additional research on some of the new features and functionality included with 28.2.

As usual, I have published a video where I will walk you through some of the key new features included in 28.2:
New Feature Highlights from 28.2:
Copilots and Agents: Cleaner email handling - The agent now detects and skips inline email attachments (signature logos, tracking pixels, embedded images), so it focuses only on real order documents like PDFs and spreadsheets. This change also means the agent uses fewer credits.
Enable accelerated depreciation methods for Fixed Assets (PREVIEW) - Accelerated depreciation is now a standard depreciation method in fixed assets. You can configure acceleration factors and asset settings directly in depreciation books. Business Central automatically calculates accelerated amounts, the equivalent linear amounts, and the difference between them, and posts the values to the appropriate accounts. Inquiry pages provide clear visibility into annual depreciation figures, variances, and remaining book value, supporting consistent financial tracking and audit transparency.
NOTE: Business Central has supported the use of accelerated depreciation for methods and Depreciation Books through the setup and use of custom Depreciation Tables (MACRS-3, MACRS-5, etc.). This new feature should make it easier to setup and operate.
Quality Management features:
New Microsoft Word layout for key Quality Control related reports including Certificate of Analysis, Non-Conformance, and General Purpose Inspection.
New demo data and checklist - This provides a new "Install Demo Data" action on the Quality Management Setup page that installs the Contoso Coffee Demo Dataset from AppSource and opens the Contoso Demo Tool. Installing this into a Sandbox demo company is a great way to learn more about how to use the new Quality Management features that are now standard within Business Central.
Change AI Models for Agents (PREVIEW) - Agents in Business Central can now run on different AI models. The model an agent uses can affect its behavior, performance, and results, so now you can define the specific model to be used for each Agent. If you set it to "AUTO", then Microsoft will automatically determine which model is used, but you can now override this with your own selection.
